Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has alleged that the 11-party alliance was defeated in the 12th national parliamentary election through a conspiracy. He also claimed the interim government was involved in that conspiracy.
He made the remarks while speaking at a seminar titled “The Spirit of the Mass Uprising, Implementation of the Referendum Verdict, and the Trial of the July Genocide and Crimes Against Humanity,” held in the capital on Wednesday (July 8).
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said they have accepted the results of the national election. However, the referendum verdict will not be allowed to be ignored under any circumstances. He said neither new nor old forms of fascism are acceptable, and there will be no compromise on protecting the people’s rights.
The Jamaat Ameer further said that if anyone crosses the bounds of decency to disrespect July, it will not be tolerated.
National Citizen Party (NCP) member secretary Akhter Hossain also spoke at the event. He said that to avoid further bloodshed in the country, the government should swiftly implement the referendum verdict.
