With a pledge to build a green Bangladesh, Jamaat-e-Islami has launched a tree-planting program in Rajabari union.
A colorful tree-planting program was held at Dhaladia College grounds Wednesday morning, August 26, at 11 a.m., organized by the Rajabari union unit of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami to raise public awareness on “protecting the environment and preventing deforestation.”
The program was formally inaugurated by Abul Kalam Azad, secretary of the Sreepur upazila unit of Jamaat and a candidate for upazila vice-chairman.
In his remarks, the chief guest emphasized planting more trees and called on everyone to come forward to help maintain ecological balance.
Hafez Al Amin, secretary of the Rajabari union unit of Jamaat, attended as special guest at the inaugural event.
Others present included Md Siraj Uddin Akand, baitulmal secretary of Rajabari union; Maulana Md Habibullah, secretary of the Ulama wing and a candidate for member of Ward 7; Md Muminur Rahman Turki, secretary of the youth wing; Jamaat leader Usman Sheikh; Md Wakil Hossain, president of Ward 9; Md Safar Ali, president of the Chhatra Shibir Gazipur sadar upazila unit; along with local Jamaat leaders from various wards, and college teachers and students.
After the inauguration, saplings of fruit, timber and medicinal trees were planted at the Dhaladia College grounds and various other locations.
