DHAKA — Ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has congratulated BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari, the winning chief minister-designate of West Bengal, and other victors of the state’s assembly election, a statement from the banned Awami League said Friday.
The statement was issued by the Awami League, which has been banned in Bangladesh since the political transition.
It said the president of the Bangladesh Awami League and former prime minister of Bangladesh had extended her congratulations to all winners in the West Bengal assembly election, including every representative of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
While only Adhikari was named in the statement, Hasina wished success to all the winners.
