The High Court has summoned two former directors general of the education directorate, Professor Dr. Muhammad Azad Khan and Professor B M Abdul Hannan, for defying a court order. They have been told to appear in court on August 12 and explain the matter.

The High Court bench of Justice Fahmida Kader and Justice Md Asif Hasan issued the order on Wednesday, July 22.

Advocate Md Humayun Kabir argued for the petitioner in court. He said afterwards that while Mariam Mujahida was serving as principal of Rajoir Degree College in Madaripur, the education directorate appointed another person as drawing and disbursing officer. The principal filed a writ petition in the High Court against that order. Despite a stay order in the writ petition, the education directorate sent no letter staying the order, and the principal therefore filed a contempt-of-court application. In that contempt case, the court directed the two former directors general to appear in person.
