A courtesy meeting between President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A A M Nasir Uddin is scheduled to take place today.
The meeting is set to be held at Bangabhaban at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 27.
Election commissioners Abdur Rahmanel Masud, Begum Tahmida Ahmed, Md Anwarul Islam Sarkar and Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah are expected to accompany the chief election commissioner at the meeting.
According to relevant sources, the Election Commission may brief the president on overall preparations for organizing local government elections during the meeting.
The commission’s preparations for organizing the election, various challenges and related matters may also be discussed at the meeting.
However, no official information has been given on exactly what will be discussed at the courtesy meeting between the president and the Election Commission.
