Six children died in a ward at Ad-din Hospital in Dhaka on Wednesday morning after an air conditioning unit leaked gas, officials said. The death toll could rise, they warned.
Sheikh Zahidul Islam, deputy commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ramna Division, confirmed the deaths.
Initial reports indicate that an air conditioning system in a hospital ward developed a fault that led to a gas leak. The condition of children being treated in the ward deteriorated, and six died.
