The daughter of the member of parliament for Jashore-4, Golam Rasul, has a diagnosed psychiatric illness, her party has said. She has been under treatment for a long time with psychiatrists in Bangladesh and in Hyderabad in India, it said.

The central majlis-e-shura member and publicity and media secretary of Dhaka metropolitan north, Ataur Rahman Sarkar, gave the information on Tuesday. A post was also put out on the Jamaat media wing’s page on the social media platform Facebook.

The statement from the Jamaat media wing also said a mob is being incited against a woman with a mental illness and her house attacked at the instigation of local BNP leaders and activists. A targeted campaign of disinformation is running across social media alongside it, the statement said.

Some documents relating to her treatment were attached to the post.

BD Global Times is not naming her. She is a private individual, the allegation against her has not been tested, and the medical information about her has been made public in the course of a political dispute.
