Three bridges built in the Naopara and Deyara unions of Jashore Sadar upazila have been formally opened to public movement. State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit inaugurated the bridges through separate events on Friday (19 June).
The bridges inaugurated include one over the Madhyapara canal at Talbaria Shantir Mor in Naopara union, one on the Tarafdarpara-to-Arpara road, and one over the Godanga canal on the Narangali-Phulbaria road in Deyara union.
Built under the supervision of the Department of Disaster Management, the three bridges cost a total of Tk 65 lakh 24 thousand 550.
At the inauguration, the state minister said that with these bridges open, movement for students, farmers, traders and other local people would become easier, faster and safer. At the same time, improved communications in the area would energise economic activity.
Those present included district BNP president Syed Saberul Haque Sabu, general secretary and district council administrator Delwar Hossain Khokon, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shahriar Haque, Sadar upazila BNP senior vice-president Professor Abdar Hossain Khan, general secretary Anjurul Haque Khokon and organising secretary Abdur Razzak.
