Nur Islam, senior joint secretary of Ward 33 BNP in the capital’s Mohammadpur, has been hacked and injured by attackers.
The incident took place at noon on Friday on Road 4 of Satmasjid Housing. He was rescued in a serious condition and taken to hospital.
Jewel Rana, additional deputy commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Mohammadpur zone, said police and RAB were working to arrest those involved in the incident, and that raids were under way in possible locations.
Eyewitnesses said four people who arrived on two motorcycles suddenly attacked Nur Islam, hacking him with sharp weapons and leaving him bloodied.
