DHAKA, Sept. 26 — Police arrested four people in a case filed over vandalism, looting and demolition at the Radda MCH-FP Center in Mirpur-1 in the capital around midnight. They were arrested from different parts of the capital from Friday night to Saturday morning.
Darussalam zone Officer-in-Charge Emdadul Haque Biplob confirmed the matter. He said they were arrested from different parts of the capital.
The vandalism and looting at the Radda MCH-FP Center in Mirpur-1 took place around 12 midnight Thursday. The attack was allegedly carried out under the banner of an organization named Somomona Dokandar Samabay Samity Limited. More than two hundred masked people carrying local weapons entered the center and took two security guards hostage. Valuable equipment, medicines, vaccines, cash and other goods were then looted. Later, the entire facility, including one brick building and three semi-brick buildings, was demolished using heavy machinery.
There are also allegations that two local BNP factions had long been trying to occupy the site. On Thursday night, one faction occupied the site under the name Somomona Dokandar Samabay Samity Limited. A case was filed at Shah Ali Police Station over the incident.
