TEHRAN — An Iranian oil tanker broke through a U.S. naval blockade and reached a port in southern Iran, the Iranian military said.

In a statement, the military said that despite repeated warnings and threats from what it called “terrorist forces” of the U.S. Navy, the oil tanker Silica City entered Iranian waters from the Arabian Sea late Sunday with the assistance of the Iranian army and navy, and docked at a southern port hours later.

The United States made no comment on the incident. Separately, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), which oversees American military operations in the region, said in a brief statement that since the start of the naval blockade against Iran, “U.S. forces have compelled 27 vessels to change course or return to Iranian ports.”
