Allegations of irregularities have surfaced in the hiring of data collectors and supervisors for the Family Card Census in Mahespur upazila, Jhinaidah. A memorandum has been submitted demanding a proper investigation into alleged nepotism and corruption in the hiring process.

The memorandum was submitted to the upazila executive officer Monday morning. Md Mahinur Rahman (Mahi) of the upazila’s Azampur union has demanded a thorough investigation and reconsideration of the hiring of data collectors and supervisors for the Family Card Census 2026, citing irregularities and corruption in the process.

In his written complaint, he alleged that no clear evaluation list was published for the practical and oral examinations. He alleged that the final list was drawn up in secret, that nepotism and corruption were involved, and that meritorious and qualified candidates were sidelined in favor of political affiliation. He alleged that many unqualified individuals were recommended for hiring through financial transactions, causing qualified, unemployed local young people to be excluded, sparking intense public dissatisfaction and anger. He demanded that the current, opaque and flawed final results be immediately suspended and that a fair, independent investigation committee be formed to properly investigate the alleged irregularities and corruption.
