A private car that drove onto an unauthorized railway crossing in Mymensingh city was struck by a train and thrown into an adjacent paddy field, police said. No casualties were reported.
The accident took place around 1:45 p.m. on Tuesday (June 16) at the Sutiakhali railway crossing in the city. The car collided with the Jamalpur Express train, which was traveling from Dhaka to Mymensingh.
Mymensingh Railway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Akhtar Hossain said the car, which was carrying a wedding party, tried to cross at an unauthorized crossing in the Sutiakhali area when the train struck it. The car lost control and was thrown into the adjacent paddy field, he said.
He added that although the front of the car was damaged, there were no casualties. The train also suffered little damage.
Train services on the Dhaka-Mymensingh route remained normal despite the accident, railway authorities said.
