Education

Even amid his official workload, Madhyanagar upazila executive officer (UNO) Sanjay Ghosh regularly visits various educational institutions in the upazila. Not only does he inspect them — he often goes into the classroom and teaches himself, engaging directly with students. On Monday (June 15) morning, during a visit to Chamardani High School, he took an English class for ninth- and tenth-grade students. Surprised and delighted to have a UNO suddenly as their teacher, the students were thrilled. Over the roughly hour-long class, he presented various points of the English subject in an accessible way and encouraged the students to take part in interactive learning.

The students said the UNO had taken the class very well. Through questions and answers, he made the lesson easy to follow and gave guidance on how to remember the material easily. The class was both instructive and enjoyable. The school’s head teacher, Golam Jilani, said the way the UNO came into the classroom and taught, despite being an administrative officer, was an inspiration for the students. His initiative would make the students more interested in their studies. UNO Sanjay Ghosh said: “I find joy in teaching young students. There is no satisfaction quite like sharing knowledge. Along with spending time with the students, it is a chance to learn about the school’s problems directly. Education is immensely important in building a developed and prosperous nation. As a public servant, being able to make even a small contribution to education is a matter of pride for me.”
