An 11-party alliance led by Jamaat-e-Islami held a large rally at the south gate of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque on Wednesday to mark the second anniversary of the mass uprising.
The alliance said the gathering was held to demand implementation of the verdict of a referendum.
The program formally began at 10:30 a.m. with a recitation from the Quran, though large numbers of leaders and activists from the alliance had gathered beforehand.
