DHAKA — The Health Ministry has approved the deployment of 4,950 Ansar personnel across 495 upazila health complexes nationwide, with 10 guards assigned to each facility.
The decision was communicated Wednesday, April 22, in an office order signed by Sujit Debnath, deputy secretary of the Administration-1 wing of the Health Services Division of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
In the consent letter sent to the secretary of the Finance Ministry, the Health Ministry said that under the prime minister’s directive, 10 Ansar personnel should be assigned to each of the 495 upazila health complexes under the Health Services Division. They will serve in three shifts to safeguard valuable medical equipment and to control unauthorized entry, including by patient attendants.
The cost of employing 4,950 Ansar personnel — covering salaries, festival allowances, Baishakhi allowance, rations, travel, medical care, and other incidentals — could come to 150 crore taka (about $13.6 million) annually, the ministry said.
The ministry requested approval to deploy 4,950 Ansar guards across the 495 upazila health complexes under the Health Services Division.
