384 tourists, including foreigners, missing in Nepal floods; 17 dead

Communication was lost with 384 tourists in Nepal on Wednesday after a devastating flood near the Tibet border. Most of the tourists were foreigners, Nepal’s Tourism Board said. Police, meanwhile, said 17 bodies have been recovered.

The Tourism Board said that, based on preliminary information from travel agencies and companies, it has identified 384 tourists as missing in the flood-hit area. Of them, 291 are foreign nationals and 93 are Nepali citizens.

Authorities are continuing efforts to locate the missing tourists, the Tourism Board said.

Nepal’s police, meanwhile, told the BBC that 17 bodies were recovered from various districts on Wednesday morning following the devastating flood.
