PIROJPUR — The Red Crescent distributed relief to flood-affected families in Nazirpur upazila of Pirojpur on Tuesday morning, district officials said.

Alamgir Hossain, president of the district Red Crescent and administrator of the Zila Parishad, handed over the relief at Chouthaimohal Adarsha village in Nazirpur upazila on the morning of May 12.

Hygiene kits for women and tarpaulin sheets were distributed to about 100 families.

Those present at the distribution included upazila BNP member-secretary Abu Hasan Khan, joint conveners Rafiqul Islam, Asaduzzaman Tipu Hazra and Tawhidul Islam, district Jubo Dal joint convener Tanjid Hasan Shawon, former vice president of the district Chhatra Dal Mizanur Rahman, upazila Chhatra Dal convener Shamim Hasan, and Tareq Abdullah Bappi, among others.

“We have given a tarpaulin to each family whose home was damaged by the floods to protect them from rain,” Hossain said. “We also distributed some hygiene supplies to raise awareness of women’s health.”
