Police have recovered a half-decomposed, unidentified body from an area adjacent to the Biswaroad section of the Dhaka-Khulna highway in South Kandi village of Faridpur’s Nagarkanda upazila.

Around noon Thursday (July 9), local passersby noticed a foul smell, went to investigate, and found the body beside the road. They alerted Nagarkanda police station, and police quickly reached the scene and recovered the body.

Hundreds of curious onlookers gathered at the scene after news of the discovery spread. Locals initially believe the body may be that of a man, but police declined to comment further until the identity and cause of death are confirmed.

A police team led by Nagarkanda police station officer-in-charge (OC) Rasul Samdani Azad visited the scene and began a preliminary investigation.

OC Rasul Samdani Azad said the identity of the deceased has not yet been established. A CID forensic team is working to confirm the identity. Once identified, the body will be handed over to relatives after legal formalities are completed.
