The total number of voters in the country has risen to 128,632,555 (12 crore 86 lakh 32 thousand 555). Voters increased by 309,315 up to 31 July. Over the same period, the revised codes of conduct for five local-government bodies have been sent to the Law Ministry for vetting.

Election Commission (EC) senior secretary Akhtar Ahmed gave the information to reporters at the Election Building in the capital’s Agargaon on Sunday (9 August).

He said the revised codes of conduct for five local-government bodies — union parishads, municipalities, city corporations, upazila parishads and zila parishads — had been sent to the Law Ministry for vetting, and that the total number of voters stood at 128,632,555.

He said voter registration for the local-government elections ran until 31 July; if the date changes, it will be announced later, and those entries will be published as a supplementary list. Voters rose by 309,315 up to 31 July, he said.
