Online applications for admission to undergraduate programmes at the University of Dhaka for the 2026-27 academic year will begin at 12pm on 11 November and end at 11:59pm on 25 November.
The decisions were taken at a meeting of the general admission committee held on Sunday (2 August) at the auditorium of the Nawab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building. Vice-Chancellor Professor ABM Obaidul Islam chaired the meeting. Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) Professor Abdus Salam, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Mohammad Almojaddedi Alfesani, Treasurer Professor M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, the convener of the online admission committee, deans of various faculties, hall provosts, department chairmen, institute directors and officials concerned were present.
Admission tests for the 2026-27 academic year will be held through five units: “Arts, Law and Social Sciences”, “Science”, “Business Studies”, “Fine Arts” and “IBA”.
According to the schedule, the Arts, Law and Social Sciences unit test will be held on Saturday 19 December, the Science unit on Saturday 12 December, the Business Studies unit on Saturday 26 December, the Fine Arts unit (general knowledge and drawing) on Tuesday 22 December 2026 and the IBA unit on Saturday 5 December. Tests for all units except IBA will be held from 11am to 12:30pm, while the IBA unit test will run from 10am to 12pm. Except for the Fine Arts and IBA units, tests for the other three units will be held in eight divisional cities including Dhaka. The divisional centres are the University of Rajshahi, University of Chattogram, University of Barishal, Khulna University, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Bangladesh Agricultural University in Mymensingh, and Begum Rokeya University.
For all units except Fine Arts and IBA, there will be a 60-mark MCQ test and a 40-mark written test. The Fine Arts unit test will have a 40-mark MCQ and a 60-mark drawing test, while the IBA unit test will have a 70-mark MCQ and a 30-mark descriptive test. For the Fine Arts unit, 30 minutes are set for the MCQ and 60 minutes for the drawing/written test; for the IBA unit, 90 minutes for the MCQ and 30 minutes for the descriptive test. For the other units, 45 minutes each are set for the MCQ and written tests. Candidates will be assessed on a total of 120 marks — 100 for the admission test and 20 for the results of the secondary/equivalent and higher secondary/equivalent examinations.
As minimum eligibility, applicants must have passed the secondary/equivalent examination between 2021 and 2024 and the higher secondary/equivalent examination in 2026.
For the “Science” unit, the combined GPA of the two examinations (including the fourth subject) must be at least 8, with at least 3.5 in each. Humanities and business students from the higher secondary and madrasa boards may also apply, needing a combined GPA of at least 7.5 with at least 3.0 in each.
For the “Arts, Law and Social Sciences” unit, the combined GPA must be at least 7.5, with at least 3.0 in each. Science and business students may also apply, needing at least 8.0 with 3.5 in each (science) or 7.5 with 3.0 in each (business).
For the “Business Studies” unit, the combined GPA must be at least 7.5, with at least 3.0 in each. Science and humanities students may also apply, needing at least 8.0 with 3.5 in each (science) or 7.5 with 3.0 in each (humanities).
For the “Fine Arts” unit, the combined GPA must be at least 6.5, with at least 3.0 in each.
The meeting also decided to prepare separate question papers for English-medium students in the Science unit according to their curriculum, and that classes for the 2026-27 undergraduate programme would begin on 28 March 2027.
