Three more people have died of dengue in the country in the past 24 hours. In the same period, 463 people were admitted to hospital with the Aedes mosquito-borne disease.
The information was given in a notice published by the health directorate on Thursday (30 July).
The health directorate said that of the three people who died of dengue in the country in the latest 24 hours (from 8am on Wednesday to 8am on Thursday), two were in the Dhaka division and one in the Khulna division.
With this, 53 people have died of dengue this year. The number of people affected so far stands at 15,153.
Public health specialists and entomologists fear that the dengue outbreak will keep rising from August to October.
According to government figures, the number of dengue deaths in the first six months of this year has nearly doubled in the 30 days of July alone.
