The people of this country won their freedom from an autocrat’s grip in exchange for the blood of hundreds of students and ordinary citizens — a freedom for which they had struggled for 15 long years. Local MP Dr Mosleh Uddin Farid said this on Saturday (8 August) afternoon at a reception ceremony at the Arifa Sultana Women’s Madrasa in Swarparajpur of Chougachha upazila, Jashore.
The meeting was chaired by Professor Abdur Rahman. In his speech as chief guest, Farid also said a body of honest and capable manpower is needed to move the country forward. Others who spoke included upazila Jamaat Amir Maulana Golam Morshed, secretary Maulana Nuruzzaman, assistant secretary Master Kamal Ahmed, journalist Rahidul Islam Khan, municipal Jamaat Amir Maulana Abdul Khaleq, Maulana Ammadul Islam, Dr Mahbubur Rahman, Maulana Abdul Latif and Maulana Rowshan Jamil.
