A special white buffalo (an albino buffalo) recently brought to the Bangladesh National Zoo in the capital’s Mirpur is drawing keen interest from visitors. From the afternoon of the second day of Eid, a notable crowd has gathered in front of the zoo’s enclosure number L-07.
Zoo authorities said that while visitor numbers were comparatively low on Eid day, the number of people eager to see the white buffalo rose significantly from the second day of Eid, with a larger crowd in front of its enclosure than at other animals’ cages.
For visitors’ information, an identification tag has been attached in front of the enclosure reading “সাদা মহিষ” in Bengali and “Albino Buffalo” in English. Its special characteristics and unusual appearance have created extra curiosity.
The zoo authorities said the buffalo was brought to the national zoo on Wednesday night, and that visitor interest began rising visibly from the next morning. The albino buffalo, which has also featured in various international media, has become one of the national zoo’s main attractions, with daily visitor numbers rising and the zoo’s atmosphere becoming livelier.
