Police have arrested Nur Islam, 67, a leader of the banned Awami League, in a case under the anti-terrorism act in Chougachha, Jashore.
He was arrested in a raid in Kharincha village of the upazila at dawn on Sunday (September 20).
Nur Islam is the son of the late Nasir Uddin Bhaga Mondal of Kharincha village in Swarupdah union of the upazila. He is the general secretary of ward 9 of Swarupdah union Awami League.
Police said he was arrested in a case filed under the anti-terrorism act. He was sent to court on Sunday morning.
The officer-in-charge of the police station, Mamunur Rashid, said: “The arrested accused was sent to court in the morning.”
