In Jashore’s Chougacha, a woman named Taslima Khatun, 35, has been beaten and injured by field owners after her cattle entered their field.
The injured Taslima Khatun filed a written complaint with Chougacha police station over the incident on Sunday, July 26.
The incident took place in Dulalpur village of Hakimpur union in the upazila. The injured Taslima Khatun is currently under treatment at Chougacha Government Model Hospital.
According to the complaint, on the day of the incident Taslima Khatun was bringing her cow home from the village field. At that time the cow strayed into the field of a Dulalpur villager.
Taslima Khatun brought the cow out of the field before it could do any damage. Angered by this, according to the complaint, the field’s owner — along with his brother and another man of the village — attacked her.
They beat her seriously with bamboo sticks and iron rods, the complaint says. When Taslima lost consciousness and fell to the ground, she was left there, taken for dead.
Local people later rescued her and admitted her to Chougacha Government Model Hospital. Taslima has filed a written complaint with Chougacha police station as the complainant in the case.
The OC of Chougacha police station, Mamunur Rashid, said: “We have received the complaint and an investigation is under way. If the allegations are found true, legal action will be taken.”
