The national Vitamin A Plus campaign has been launched in Chuadanga. To mark the occasion, health department assistant director Abu Hena Mohammad Jamal inaugurated the campaign as chief guest at the civil surgeon’s office conference room at 10:30am on Sunday (28 June).
The meeting, chaired by Chuadanga civil surgeon Dr Hadi Zia Uddin Ahmed, was attended by the civil surgeon’s office medical officer Dr Shamima Yasmin, World Health Organization representative Dr Khondkar Imran Hasib, EPI supervisor Rehena Khatun and other health department officials.
This time, for the national Vitamin A Plus campaign, Chuadanga will feed blue and red Vitamin A capsules to a total of 1,45,845 children aged 6 to 11 months and 1 to 5 years. Of these, 17,541 children aged 6-11 months are being given the blue capsule and 1,28,845 children aged 1-5 years the red capsule.
Children are being given Vitamin A Plus capsules simultaneously at 896 outreach centres in the district. Feeding Vitamin A capsules reduces the risk of child death.
