Unidentified individuals left a crude bomb and a threatening note at the gate of a farmer’s home in Kasba village, Gangni upazila, Meherpur, spreading panic in the area.
Locals spotted the bomb and note on Wednesday morning and informed Gangni police station. Police arrived around 8 a.m. and recovered the device, placing it in a water-filled bucket as a safety measure.
The handwritten note read: “I’m building a wall along the road. If you don’t let the water drain, I’ll kill you with a bomb. The party is in power now. Listen if you want to live.”
Gangni police station investigation officer Abdullah Al Mamun said the crude bomb, wrapped in red tape, and the note were found beneath the staircase of the house of schoolteacher Akkas Ali, son of farmer Rajab Ali, in the Mollapara area of Kasba village.
Recently, approximately 20 crude bombs and threatening notes have been recovered from eight separate locations across Gangni upazila, causing widespread fear among residents.
