Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has recovered a large quantity of Indian-made smartphone displays and drugs in two separate anti-smuggling operations on the Kushtia border.
Six hundred smartphone displays were recovered on Monday morning (September 21) from the area under Pragpur border outpost.
Earlier, on Sunday night (September 20), 20 bottles of Fairdeal syrup and 3,000 cyproheptadine tablets were seized from the area under Kazipur border outpost.
According to the Kushtia battalion (47 BGB), a BGB patrol acted on specific intelligence at about 7.30am on Monday and raided the paved road beside Pragpur bazar in the area under Pragpur border outpost. Six hundred Indian smartphone displays were recovered there, with no owner present.
The recovered displays include 200 pieces of “Crown Ultra LCD Display 500+” and 400 pieces of “Crown Smart LCD Display 500+”. The estimated seizure value of the goods is 34 lakh taka.
Separately, another BGB patrol raided the Refugee Para field in the area under Kazipur border outpost at about 10.30pm on Sunday (September 20). Twenty bottles of Indian Fairdeal syrup and 3,000 cyproheptadine tablets were recovered there, again with no owner present. The estimated seizure value of the drugs is 9 lakh 8,000 taka. Nobody connected with the goods could be detained.
The Kushtia battalion (47 BGB) said intelligence work was being stepped up alongside regular special operations to prevent smuggling and the illegal entry of drugs across the border. Operations of this kind would continue in order to ensure border security and to enforce a zero-tolerance policy against smuggling and drugs.
