All kindergarten schools in the country operating without registration will be shut down by 2028, State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj has said. He said the initiative was taken to improve the standard of primary education and bring these institutions under government rules and regulations.

He made the comments while speaking with reporters on Wednesday afternoon, August 19, after a daylong workshop titled “Transformation and Action Plan for Primary Education” at the PTI conference hall in Chattogram.

The state minister said the government is taking various steps to improve the standard of primary education. As part of that effort, unregistered kindergartens will be brought under regulation. All kindergarten schools in the country that fail to register within a set deadline will be shut down by 2028.

He said that alongside improving primary education standards, the government is also working to address staff shortages at educational institutions.

Bobby Hajjaj further said a new integrated policy is being drafted for primary school teachers. It will cover various important matters, including teacher promotions, salary structure, and a redefinition of the scope of their responsibilities.

He said the new policy would ensure more effective coordination between teachers’ professional opportunities and their responsibilities.
