The power to recommend the appointment of non-teaching staff at MPO-listed private educational institutions has returned to their governing and managing committees. The Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Education Ministry issued a new circular on this on Tuesday, July 21, cancelling a September 28, 2025 circular on the matter.

Under the new circular, recommendations for MPO-listed non-teaching posts — including trade assistant, office assistant, computer operator, accounts assistant, lab assistant, security guard, cleaner, night guard, aya and office support staff — at junior secondary schools, secondary schools, higher secondary schools, colleges and undergraduate (pass) colleges will be made through the institution’s managing committee.

Earlier, the 2025 circular had assigned the responsibility for recommending these appointments to a committee led by the deputy commissioner. By cancelling that instruction, the new circular restores the previous system for hiring non-teaching staff.
