Auto driver crushed to death by bus in Ujirpur

In Barisal’s Ujirpur, an auto-rickshaw driver, Mosharraf Bali, 61, has been killed when a speeding BMF Paribahan bus hit his battery-run auto-rickshaw, splitting it in two.

The accident took place at about 6 p.m. on Friday, July 24, in front of the Saju pump in the Joyshree area of the Dhaka-Barisal highway.

Mosharraf Bali was a resident of Joyshree village in the upazila.

Eyewitnesses said Mosharraf Bali was driving his auto-rickshaw along the highway in the evening. At that point a Dhaka-bound BMF Paribahan bus from Barisal came at speed and hit the rickshaw. The rickshaw split in two, and the driver, Mosharraf, was crushed under the bus’s wheels and killed on the spot.

The officer-in-charge (OC) of Gournadi Highway police station, Md Mohsin Hossen, said the body had been recovered and sent to the upazila hospital. The bus involved in the accident was seized after the crash.
