Turkey’s Foreign Ministry said recent deadly Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip showed again that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government had no genuine intention of making peace with Palestinians.

The ministry made the assertion in a statement reported by the Anadolu Agency.

“Netanyahu’s sole fundamental objective is to displace Palestinians from their own homeland and destroy the conditions for establishing lasting peace and stability in the region,” the ministry said.

The statement said Netanyahu was continuing to take steps that seriously disrupted the Middle East’s fragile regional balance. It accused him of repeatedly undermining peace and mediation efforts, particularly those led by the United States.

Turkey warned the international community that what it described as Netanyahu’s expansionist and military policies risked turning the entire Middle East into a major conflict zone. It called for a firmer, more unified international response to those policies.

The United States recently announced a major plan aimed at ending the long-running conflict in Gaza and restoring peace and security, raising hopes in international diplomatic circles. At least 19 Palestinians were killed in Israeli airstrikes across Gaza on Sunday, shortly after the proposal was announced.
