Excitement has gripped fans worldwide over the FIFA football World Cup. The current edition kicked off at midnight on Thursday, June 11, with the match between Mexico and South Africa. Billed as “the greatest show on earth,” the tournament has stirred a festive mood among football lovers.

Across the country, alongside ordinary fans, stars of the entertainment world have also caught the festive spirit. Their excitement and enthusiasm are on display across social media.

Popular actress Tanjika Amin is no exception to the World Cup football fever. One of her recent social media posts caught fans’ attention. In it she shared four photos with her husband, Saif Basunia. In two of them, the couple are seen smiling and posing romantically in Argentina’s iconic sky-blue-and-white jersey.

The jersey photos are believed to be AI-generated. In the other two photos in the post, the couple are seen in ordinary clothes in similar poses.

The most talked-about part was Tanjika’s caption, which gave netizens a laugh. In reality her husband is not an Argentina supporter; he is known as a die-hard Brazil fan.

In the caption, Tanjika Amin herself revealed the fun behind the jersey swap. Writing wryly in English, she said: “This is a very clever move by my husband to keep peace in the household. He’s a die-hard Brazil supporter, but this small effort is because he wants to live healthy and in peace for many more years to come!”

Tanjika clearly enjoyed her husband’s antics. She wrote: “I liked it. Cheers to Saif Basunia and his all-time favourite slogan — happy wife, happy life.”

She ended the caption with an Argentina flag emoji and the word “Vamos.”

As ever in the entertainment world, supporters of both Argentina and Brazil are out in force. Ahead of the World Cup, many stars have already been seen in Argentina jerseys on social media. Among them are Mehazabien Chowdhury and her sister Malaika Chowdhury.

On the other side, according to various social media accounts, several popular stars of the country’s entertainment scene are known as Brazil supporters. The list includes the likes of Mosharraf Karim, Joya Ahsan, Ziaul Faruq Apurba, Afran Nisho, Apu Biswas and Shabnam Bubly.

By contrast, the list of die-hard Argentina fans includes front-rank stars such as Zahid Hasan, Chanchal Chowdhury, Nusraat Imrose Tisha, Porimoni and Puja Cherry.
