Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister A.N.M. Ehsanul Haque Milon said appointment letters for assistant teacher posts in government primary schools will be issued until Oct. 1. Only after that will it be known how many candidates are being left out, he said.
The education minister said appointment letters for 817 people remain pending so far. Until the process is final, it cannot be said whether 20 or 50 people are being excluded, he said, urging people not to create confusion over the matter.
He made the remarks Monday afternoon at a press conference in the conference room of the Education Ministry at the Secretariat. The press conference was held after a meeting of the national steering committee on celebrating World Teachers’ Day 2026.
The minister said confusion and unrest were being spread in some media outlets over primary teacher recruitment. Many people had said many things, and some were saying they had spoken to their fathers or mothers about choosing suicide, he said. But the process was not final. Many candidates’ addresses had changed. Verification and appointment letters are being sent in phases.
Referring to emotional reports in the media based on statements from two candidates, he said those who had spoken had received letters. In another case, media reports were published before a candidate’s result was received, which he called very unfortunate. However, the minister avoided answering a question from reporters on whether anyone would be excluded in verification for political reasons. On the issue of halting transfers of primary teachers, the education minister said no circular had been issued. Transfers must take place, he said. If corruption occurs, the process will be done online.
