BGB seized Indian goods, mercury and a motorcycle worth more than Tk 12 lakh in separate anti-drug and anti-smuggling operations along the Chuadanga border.
The information was provided Monday morning, Sept. 28, in a press release signed by Lt. Col. Md. Nazmul Hasan, commanding officer of Chuadanga Battalion, 6 BGB.
BGB sources said patrol teams from Darshana, Munshipur, Phulbari BOP and ICP under Chuadanga BGB conducted special operations in different border areas as part of regular efforts to prevent drugs and smuggling. During the operations, BGB seized 19 pieces of Indian yaba, 200 pieces of cream, three boxes of medical supplies, two Indian saris, 348 pieces of different cosmetics and 9.9 kg of mercury from the border area. BGB also seized a motorcycle used for smuggling. The seized goods were valued at Tk 12 lakh 41 thousand 100.
Lt. Col. Nazmul Hasan said BGB remains alert and firm in ensuring the security of the country’s border and preventing drugs and smuggling.
He also said BGB is working with the highest professionalism, responsibility and sincerity to keep border areas safe and free of crime. BGB’s firm position and operations against smuggling and drugs will continue in the future, he said.
