Gold prices have fallen again in Bangladesh. The Bangladesh Jewellers Association, known as Bajus, announced a reduction of up to Tk 2 thousand 158 in the price of gold jewellery per bhori, including VAT.
Bajus announced the new rates in a notice on Monday. The prices took effect at 10 am.
The association said its standing committee on pricing and price monitoring met at 9 am on Monday and decided the new gold rates.
Under the revised schedule, one bhori, or 11.664 grams, of the highest-quality 22-carat gold jewellery is priced at Tk 2 lakh 30 thousand 772. The price was Tk 2 lakh 32 thousand 930 a day earlier, meaning the 22-carat rate fell by Tk 2 thousand 158.
The price of 21-carat gold is now Tk 2 lakh 20 thousand 391 per bhori. The 18-carat rate has been set at Tk 1 lakh 89 thousand 248, while traditional-method gold is priced at Tk 1 lakh 54 thousand 256 per bhori.
Silver prices were also reduced. Under the new rates, 22-carat silver costs Tk 4 thousand 491 per bhori, 21-carat silver Tk 4 thousand 316 and 18-carat silver Tk 3 thousand 732. Traditional-method silver is priced at Tk 2 thousand 799 per bhori.
