Members of Special Response Battalion-10 arrested four people with 24 kg of cannabis in Louhajang, Munshiganj. A pickup used to transport the drugs was seized.
SRB-10 conducted the operation on a road in the Kanaksar Bazar Bridge area of the upazila around 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 28. Tapan Sarkar, senior assistant superintendent of police and assistant director for media at SRB-10, confirmed the matter in a press release Monday afternoon.
The arrested people are Shankar Rajbangshi, 40, Antip Chandra Das, 20, and Dipta Das, 19, of Mahajampur village under Narayanganj Bandar police station, and Md. Golam Hossain, 38, of Bajurbag village.
The press release said an SRB-10, CPC-2, Srinagar camp team set up a temporary checkpoint on the road in the Kanaksar Bazar Bridge area under Louhajang police station around 10:30 a.m. based on confidential information and searched suspicious vehicles. During a search of a pickup, the team recovered 24 kg of cannabis and arrested the four people.
The pickup used to transport the drugs was seized. The estimated market value of the recovered drugs is Tk 7 lakh 20 thousand, officials said. The process of handing the arrested people over to the relevant police station for filing a case under the Narcotics Control Act is underway.
The release also said SRB-10 is working with the highest professionalism and sincerity in anti-drug operations. SRB operations against drugs, weapons, terrorism and extortion will continue in the future, it said.
