Iran’s current Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei miraculously survived two air attacks during a joint U.S.-Israeli military operation, according to the source report.
Ayatollah Mohsen Heidari Ale Kasir, a member of Iran’s Assembly of Experts, disclosed the claim in an interview with a Qatar-based news outlet.
In late February, the United States and Israel carried out an airstrike on the residence of then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. His father was killed in that attack, and Mojtaba Khamenei was seriously injured and admitted to a hospital in Tehran.
Later, when U.S. forces bombed that medical facility as well, he somehow survived from under the rubble. Immediately after the attack, he was moved to an undisclosed location and has not appeared publicly since.
The religious speaker said Mojtaba himself did not know about the matter before his name was announced as the new supreme leader. He assumed the responsibility after receiving 50 of 59 votes. Although he is believed to be in hiding after being wounded in the airstrike, Iran’s president recently claimed that he is completely healthy.
